One Dead, Two Injured in El Monte Bus Accident

On Saturday, March 24, 2012 a bus jumped the curb and struck three people waiting at the bus stop in El Monte, CA. El Monte police said the accident occurred when the driver mistakenly hit the accelerator while trying to park near the intersection of Valley Boulevard and Mountain View Road. The bus struck an 18-month-old girl, the child's grandmother, and a 12-year-old boy. The baby girl was rushed to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The woman struck was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and the boy was hurt but said to be doing well. Local news sources reported that the driver was not arrested and there were no charges filed.
